Where is buttermilk falls nj

It was easy, took my dog and she enjoyed it! Call waterfall but not much access to it. Nice water view. Short and quick hike. Nice, short hike with a waterfall and some other nice views. Fairly easy but trail was rocky and there is some elevation change. Trail markings not the best but easy to navigate with all trails.

Absolutely beautiful. It was moderately rocky, so you need hiking boots. It was fun to walk on rocks or logs in a couple of places to cross a stream.

I hiked from the parking lot all around the lake to get back to the lot. I did not like having to cross the busy road to continue on the red trail. It was pretty dangerous. Nice fairly easy trail. A few up hills that were pretty steep. Ground was still a bit wet. AllTrails stopped recording half way through our hike, then started again.

Did a total of 2. Use Navigator in the AllTrails app and join the other outdoor explorers who have completed this trail.

Worth the effort. Falls are beautiful! It stinks that you have to walk 2 miles to get to the falls and then the trail starts.

Driving to trailhead is closed From the waterfall you have to hike like 2 miles into the actual loop Good hike and not that hard at all. Just the way down was a bit challenging maybe from the storm that just passed Trail was tuff today, a lot of mud and trees down from the storms the past week. The falls always are nice. Hard trail for 1 mile but easy after that. Carter lake is also beautiful and worth watching. Road is closed up to the trailhead.

Did it last month with my husky before the current heat wave hit. Beautiful waterfall and scenic Holland Pond. Hard hike up the falls and downward was steep. Poles would be helpful coming down. The rest of the trails were fairly easy but the walk to the parking lot 2 miles felt like an eternity although flat. As everyone said, all the access roads are closed so you have to take a walk to the trailhead. I parked about a mile and half away, and it was an almost paved road to trailhead.

It was so hot the day I came so I only made it a mile up before turning around. Down was quick, but not much to grab onto as it is very steep so a hiking stick would definitely be helpful. The walk to and from is a 2 mile walk from the trail since the road is closed.

Beautiful waterfall, trails are well marked, very steep need to have great hiking shoes. Hike up after the waterfall to WoodsTrail was steep. Better on a cooler day instead of 86 degree weather. The parking lot by the falls is closed. Just a heads up if your doing the full loop, it will be an additional 4 miles. Still a great hike! The hike was definitely challenging, very steep in the beginning and flat then after. If you can survive the first Only minus point is walking 2 miles from the road closure to the actual hike.

That's 4 miles of boredom in total. Beautiful hike with lakes, challenging accents and a really nice waterfall. Trail head closed and small parking area near the cemetery 2 miles away. Check yourselves regularly especially after walking through any grassy area.

So four miles just to buttermilk falls so add that four miles to your regular mileage if you do the falls or crater lake with it. Super overpacked parking lot and too many groups of people.

Good view of the falls, but rocky and not extremely scenic. Lots of ticks but still a good hike. Love this trail. Buttermilk falls are beautiful. We had to park two miles away from what I assume is the normal parking lot so we ended up doing 10 miles instead of 6. Definitely a challenging hike though. Not recommended for beginners.

No opportunities for panaramic photos but there are a few chances to catch a view of the valley over the tops of the trees. This part of the hike is fairly smooth and level, a sharp contrast from the previous section. You will hike for about a mile until you see a sign on your right for the Hemlock Pond Trail. It is a little rocky but nice. The one confusing part of this trail is that at about 0. Once you hit the pond there is a small trail that will take you right to the shore where you can get a view of the water.

I do not think there are orange blazes around the lake trail. The trail wraps around the pond and did not take me long to hike. This looked like a great place to spend the day fishing as there was not a soul in sight and I doubt it is over-fished. The falls are at their most dramatic in the spring or after large rainfalls.
